Boo! this just means I’m going to have to get creative, I now cant afford my monthly budget of Lush products 😦 my baths will be so sad.
BUT….. I took to the net, and I found DIY Bath Bomb recipes – LUSH replicas – OMF!!!
Totes cray. Totes amazing. Totes pass me my apron … Im getting my DIY on…
I tried it, im not very good at following recipes and messed them up a few times (my trash smells fantastic), but the batch I made last night are perfect, they look real, like real real. I Cannot believe I made them, I havn’t used them in water yet as they take 24 – 48 hours to dry (I don’t have patience so I will try them tonight)
They are so easy to make, my little nephew even helped out!
I’m starting to warm up to this whole “having a kid” thing. They quite handy to have around. High five for child labour!
Ok Ok, lets get to the good stuff:
YOU ARE NOT A PRO – FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS, I WASTED ALL THE GOOD STUFF ON MY FIRST TWO BATCHES BECAUSE I THINK IM BETTER THAN A RECIPE, IM NOT!
DRY MIX
1 Cup Baking Soda – I couldn’t find baking soda, so I opted for Bicarbonate of Soda (According to Google its the same)
1/2 Cup of Epsom Salts
1/2 Cup Corn Starch
1/2 cup of Citric Acid
mix all these dry ingredients together. In a separate bowl mix the wet ingredients.
WET MIX
3/4 tps of water
1-2 tps essential oils
3 tps coconut oil/ almond oil/olive oil (If using coconut oil, melt it in the microwave first so it is easier to mix in)
Food colouring – not much, just a few drops until you happy with the colour (i would say 3-4 drops, you do not want to end up looking like shrek or a smurf)
Add the wet mix to the dry mix, drop by drop, do not add too quickly, if you mixture starts fizzing or foam you are adding the wet mixture too quickly.
Add some decorations – petals, cake decorations glitter, whatever you want to surprise yourself with.
Once all the wet ingredients are combined with the dry, take a small amount in your hand and squeeze it together. It should stick together fairly well in one or two big chunks. If it’s still too powdery to hold together, just add a tiny bit more water and mix until it does hold together.
Then fill you mould, I got plastic round balls from a chinese shop, but silicone moulds work just as well or anything lying around the house (Easter egg holders, holiday ornaments etc)
Allow to dry for 24 – 48 hours (24 hours 😉 )
